Aker Yards Finland’s revenue is ca. EUR 1 billion. The 4.3 billion EUR order book includes 18 newbuildings: the world’s four largest cruise vessels for Royal Caribbean,; a cruise vessel and two fast day ferries for Color Line; two cruise ferries and a fast passenger ferry for Tallink; a ropax and a passenger ferry for Brittany Ferries; three container vessels for Baltic Container Shipping; an arctic container vessel for Norilsk Nickel; a fast passenger/ car ferry for Viking Line and a missile boat for the Finnish Navy. In addition, Option Agreements have been signed with RCCL, Color Line, Brittany Ferries and Viking Line. The orderbook also includes retrofitting of three passenger-car ferries for TT-Line and a ferry refurbishment for Silja. These contracts are managed by our Lifecycle services unit, which is offering comprehensive and cost efficient services to cruise and passenger ship operators.

Austal is the world’s largest shipyard specialising in providing customers with high performance transport solutions in aluminium. Working in close collaboration with Fred. Olsen, SA, Austal has recently pioneered the introduction of the world’s first trimaran car/passenger ferry. The 127m vessel has proved to be a remarkable success with reports highlighting an improvement in passenger comfort of 80% compared with other fast craft solutions. Austal has also secured an order from IDO in Turkey for a further two large high speed catamarans. At 88m in length these two newbuildings will join eight vessels already built by Austal for IDO. In parallel with these commercial developments Austal’s shipbuilding and design capabilities have been endorsed by the US and Australian Navies. For the US Navy Austal is building the first 127 m trimaran Littoral Combat Ship and for the Royal Australian Navy the company is building 14 x 56m patrol vessels.
