Carin ANKARCRONA
carin@shipbiz.se

Carin graduated from Stockholm School of Economics in 2004. Her Master’s thesis on Intellectual Property Rights protection in Russia was partly conducted during a one-month stay in Moscow, a month that laid the ground for a fascination for Russia and its people. Before joining a PhD-program in Economics at Stockholm University, she returned to Moscow for eight months to do a policy report on the Swedish experience of Russian Customs.

Carin completed the first year at the Ph.D-program, but has put it on hold as she has decided to settle down at the countryside outside of Halmstad. Since September 2006 Carin is working for ShipPax Information and she is now sharing her time between ShipPax Information and ShipBiz International. The latter is a new company, co-founded with Lars Meijer, which offers a broad range of consultancy services. With a love for travelling and a great interest in getting to know new people, Carin is delighted to have found an international environment right in the middle of Halmstad.

Klas BROGREN
brogren@shippax.se

Without the eventual success with his golf handicap (still 28) nor becoming a new downhill Jean-Claude Killy despite efforts, Klas’ new and more down-to-the-earth promise to get exercise is to make his daily commuting to his new Halmstad office by bicycle. But whatever he takes on, Klas is first and foremost dedicated to passenger shipping as a lifelong hobby. Not really discovering the border line of a hobby, it became his profession when, in 1977, his first assignment was for a project work with Tor Line in Gothenburg. It was followed by five years with shipbrokers in Stockholm where he was active in S&P and chartering, specialising in passenger shipping.

In 1981, he returned to his hometown to become a partner in Marine Trading which for many years held the management contract for Prince of Fundy Cruises as well as Scarlett Line. As the need of market information expanded, he developed this in his own company Plus 2 Ferryconsultation AB, which later registered ShipPax Information as its marketing name. Apart from the publications, CRUISE & FERRY Info, GUIDE, DESIGNS and STATISTICS, the company is also offering tailor-made consulting or evaluations.

Robert CLIFFORD
rclifford@incat.com.au

Robert Clifford built his first boat as a teenager, and mastered the art of sailing yachts at an early age. As a young man Robert took up fishing and set to sea for scallops and crayfish before developing a river cruise business which suddenly became Hobart’s commuter service carrying millions of passengers in the years following the Tasman bridge collapse. Robert’s experience moving boats and passengers quickly was put to good use when designing and building high speed craft. The shipbuilding facilities at Incat have grown dramatically to cater for larger and faster vessels over the past few decades.

After a range of small passenger craft Incat took the giant leap in 1989/90 to the 74 metre vehicle carrying wave piercing catamarans, those and subsequent classes of high speed vessels now operate around the world in commercial and military roles. Often dubbed the pioneer of the high speed industry, Robert Clifford holds an honorary doctorate in Engineering and Incat is currently building their largest ever vessels, two 112m metre craft under construction for a Japanese customer.
